Operating the Joy
of Discipline program
Helping kids to become Champions in Life
This world cannot be changed overnight; we must start with one person,
one classroom, one school, one city, one country, and the world. The
mission of the Joy of Discipline program is to promote the
Lead by Example Action Philosophy for parents, teachers, and student
as follow:
1. Lead by example:
Do whatever you expect from your children; never do what you don't want
to see from your children.
2.
Teach sincerely: Never fail to correct child's mistakes with a smile
until the child develops the habit.
3. Lead by example continually
What is the relationship
between the Joy of Discipline program and education? The essence of
the J.O.D. program is discipline. The soul of an army is discipline.
George Washington
Joy of Discipline can be an ideal vehicle to motivate children
and adults with the importance of a balanced education that consists
of knowledge in the mind, honesty in the heart and strength in the body
- the three basic human qualities. Tae Kwon Do teaches how basic physical
qualities can be transformed into basic human qualities such as speed
(to alertness), endurance (to perseverance) timing (to punctuality),
power (to knowledge), balance (to rationale), flexibility (to gentleness)
and posture (to honesty).
The Joy of Discipline program is comprised of the
Joy of Learning, the Joy of Self-Discipline and the
Joy of Exercising. This program was introduced to the Principal
Pauline Hamlette of Amidon Elementary School, by Dr. William Bennett,
the former Secretary of Education in 1988. The program was originally
offered to eight Washington D.C. Public Elementary Schools. Other schools
that program was taught at, Woodbridge High School, Lake Ridge Elem.,
and many more public school in Prince William County. Also offered at
Former Head Coach of Washington Redkins, Joe Gibbs Youth for Tomorrow
Center in Bristil, VA, and is now operating in eight Fairfax County
Public Schools.
The purpose of self-discipline is to develop a positive mental attitude.
Martial Arts training, with self-discipline, has proven to be an effective
way to develop a clear mind. The disciplined daily Martial Arts exercise
with its Lead By Example Action philosophy has helped the coordination
and balance of body and mind for many. It can be applied to all areas
of life for everyone.
It is needless to say that America has to rediscover the vision of Her
Founding Fathers and restore the forgotten discipline in our homes and
school classrooms today. The Joy of Discipline program can
restore this lost discipline which will automatically develop sense
of self-worth and self-confidence before children reach their sixth
grades. There is an old proverb that says: "It takes a year to
harvest a crop, ten years to see the full beauty of a tree, and fifty
years to make a person."
Student Creed:
When you are Truthful, you are Beautiful in the Hart
when you are Beautiful in the Hart, People Loved you
When people Love
you, you are HAPPY...........
